Our short and sweet gay Mexico tour kicks off in the countryโs colonial capital where weโll guide you through a labyrinth of colourful alleys and cobblestone plazas. Things will get hotter than a habanero in the evening as we mambo over to Zona Rosaโthe cityโs gay district. Finally, the latter half of this adventure focuses on Mexican history. For example, youโll have the opportunity to glimpse the wealth and power of pre-Columbian empires at sites like Teotihuacan and Cholula. So slather on your highest SPF, crack a Corona, and let Mexico unfold before you.
Hola! Bienvenidos a Mexico City, a bustling megalรณpolis of over 20 million people sitting atop the ruins of the mighty Aztec empire of Tenochtitlan. Today, Mexico City is a fascinating mix of colonial architecture and big-city sophistication. We start our tour with a mandatory welcome meeting at 5pm, followed by a Welcome Dinner at a magnificent Mexican restaurant. Depending on how the group feels we may enjoy our first dip into Zona Rosa, the cityโs vibrant gay district.
Buenos dรญas! Today we embark on a fascinating Mexico City tour. Weโll spend our time meandering through historic colonial neighbourhoods and past significant heritage buildings such as Chapultepec Castleโone of the only royal palaces in North America, and notably featured in Baz Luhrmannโsโ Romeo & Julietโas well as the world-renowned Anthropology museum. Our guide will take us on a walk through Mexicoโs fascinating history before wrapping the tour in Mexico Cityโs beating heart, the Zocalo. Weโll also stop by an authentic Mexican restaurant for lunch. After being guided back to the hotel youโll have some time to relax or explore more on your own. Tonight you have the option of joining a tacos & tequila tour to delight your tastebuds with the cityโs best street food.
Rise and shine! Today weโre off to the pre-Columbian City of Teotihuacan where weโll wallow in itโs imposing pyramids. Although little is known for certain about this mysterious site, weโll examine the many glyphs and unlock some of the siteโs secrets during a private guided tour. After a full day of tomb raiding weโll grab lunch near the ruins then continue on to the colonial gem of Puebla. Puebla is actually the birthplace of mole poblano, a rich Mexican sauce famous for its complex list of ingredients including chocolate. After dropping our luggage at our hotel, there will be an optional dinner to try one of the worldโs UNESCO World Heritage cuisines. ยกBuen provecho!
This morning weโll visit soaring Cholula, the largest pyramid in the world. In fact, this massive structure is so large early colonists mistook it for a mountain. The Church of Our Lady of Remedies sits atop the pyramid and on a clear day, you will have sweeping views of the city and the surrounding volcanoes and mountains. After a private tour of the site, weโll slip back into Puebla for a cooking class where weโll handpick fresh ingredients at a local market then prepare a delicious Poblano meal with an executive chef.
Today we make our way back to bustling Mexico City. Our first stop will be the bohemian neighbourhood of Coyoacan where weโll pay a visit to Frida Kahloโs Casa Azul, one of the most treasured memories of this famous artist. Together weโll discover a more intimate view of Frida Kahloโs art before walking around Coyocanโs beautiful center. Here, there are many cafรฉs, shops, and unique craft markets, not to mention the best churros in Mexico City, que rico! The afternoon will be at your leisure until we gather for our farewell dinner before you leave.
Today is our final day together and after an included breakfast, no other activities are planned. From the whole Out Adventures team, gracias for joining our gay Mexico tour!
Just go! The trip was excellent, and covered the highlights of Mexico City and Puebla. We had a few logistical issues related to a local parade, but the way Out Adventures handled it helped turn it into a highlight of the trip rather than a problem. The hotel in Mexico City was in a very good neighborhood, and the Puebla hotel was beyond amazing. Our guide Jasson and host Alf were also amazing, and Iโd travel with them again no questions asked.
Great introduction to the many cultures and history of Mexico. This trip includes historic aspects of the city, as well as a visit to two major archeological sites. Plus, the cuisine is excellent!
This was a fantastic trip. It was a great group of people to get to know and travel with. The guide was knowledgeable and put a fun spin on the trip. All of the experiences, hotels, and restaurants were chosen well and fit into a great overall trip.
