Careers with Out Adventures

Out Adventures is one of the world’s leading LGBTQ+ travel brands. We’ve been running tours, cruises, hikes, and safaris across 50+ countries since 2008. We prioritize purpose over profit, knowing the latter is delivered through our exceptional service and support of other small and queer-owned businesses. Our style of travel opens hearts, changes minds, and our community focus is illustrated through our commitment to Rainbow Railroad as a Major Partner, which has contributed over $125,000 to their cause. We sell travel, and we deliver community.

We are currently hiring in the following roles:

Tour Host

Our Tour Hosts are the heart and soul of Out Adventures on the ground. While our Local Group Leaders bring deep destination expertise, our Hosts own the overall guest experience. This role is a hybrid of a concierge, group facilitator, brand ambassador, and master problem-solver. You are responsible for group cohesion, inclusivity, and maintaining Out Adventures’ standards across every destination.

Reports to: Director of Tour Operations, Operations Supervisor
Start Date: As soon as possible
Location: Worldwide
Application Deadline: Email your CV and cover letter to careers@outadventures.com by May 8, 2026
Period of Employment: Freelance/Contract

Qualifications & Experience

  • Tourism Expertise: 3+ years leading groups. You possess the geographical street smarts and first-hand travel experience to navigate unfamiliar territory and encourage guests to explore beyond the expected.
  • LGBTQ+ Literacy: A deep, lived understanding of LGBTQ+ culture and the specific safety and social nuances required for our travelers.
  • The “Social Glue”: You have a natural ability to read a room, break up cliques, and make everyone feel included. As a confident public speaker, you command a room during briefings, knowing exactly when to be the life of the party and when to step back and be the authoritative leader.
  • Hospitality Obsession: A customer-first mindset is your default. You excel at anticipating guest needs before they surface, yet possess the thick skin required to handle critique.
  • Operational Grit: You are the person with the spreadsheet and the backup-backup-backup plan. You are flexible and reliable, capable of leading with empathy and confidence when things go sideways.
  • Certifications: Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain) and the ability to remain the calmest person in the room during an emergency.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Group Dynamics

  • Group Cohesion & Support: Lead the social flow and emotional well-being of the group, resolving conflicts when they arise, and being available 24/7 from arrival to departure.
  • Inclusivity & Safety: Ensure a welcoming environment for a diverse group of LGBTQ+ travelers, maintaining strict conduct and safety standards.
  • VIP Engagement: Acknowledge guests and maintain detailed notes on client preferences to ensure consistency across future trips.
  • Communication: Act as the primary guest-facing voice. Lead daily briefings and welcome meetings to frame the experience and set expectations.

Operational Leadership

  • The Partnership: Work alongside the Local Group Leader. While they lead logistics and cultural insight, you have final authority over guest-facing decisions regarding experience and brand standards.
  • Logistical Support: Coordinate with local operators and head office to ensure services are delivered as promised. Step in diplomatically if a supplier’s performance negatively impacts the group.
  • Meals: Oversee group meals, including managing dietary requirements and handling payments/gratuities where applicable.
  • Finance & Reporting: Manage trip finances and submit detailed post-trip reports, including guest feedback and operational issues.
  • Crisis Management: Serve as the lead in emergency situations (illness, injury, or unrest) in direct coordination with the Head Office.

Brand Ambassadorship

  • Brand Voice: Maintain the Out Adventures brand voice throughout the journey.
  • Content Creation: Capture high-quality photos and videos for marketing purposes to help share the magic of our tours.

Compensation

This is a subcontractor position. Compensation includes a daily rate commensurate with experience, a meal per diem, all trip-related expenses (accommodation, transport), and travel insurance. Detailed rates are provided upon contract offer.
