The sun-kissed savannahs, intricate waterways, and lush islands of Botswana’s Okavango Delta offer an unrivaled rendezvous with a vast array of wildlife where you can dream the impossible dream: a 4-day Limited Edition safari! We’re checking-in to Kwara Camp, a 5-star luxury destination pulsing to the rhythmic melodies of nature. Read on as we flex our musical muscles (sometimes terribly) for this safari sojourn.

Defying Gravity

Our journey begins with a charter flight to the Okavango Delta. This aerial overture provides a soaring preview of the panoramas and wild encounters to come.

As our aircraft hums along at a low altitude, we’ll spot larger fauna in the delta’s weaving waterways before touching down on a dirt landing strip (this is an adventure of its own so make sure to keep seat backs and tray tables in an upright and locked position. Just kidding! There are no tray tables on this plane).

Suddenly, See More!

As we enter stage right to our lavish, 5-star safari camp, we’ll be greeted by opulent interiors that fuse rustic elegance with modern flair. Each spacious suite includes a king bed, a living room, a desk, an ensuite with a soaker tub, verandah, and outdoor shower (a perfect place to wash that man right out of your hair).

Once we’ve settled, it’s time to explore Kwara’s full breadth of amenities. Spoiler alert: the open air bar and lounge is a showstopper.

And I Am Telling You, I’m Not Going to leave you standing, because there are several seating areas to choose from, including a full dining room and a campfire lounge. Relax in style as the friendly staff cater to our every whim.

Feeling toasty? Go for a dip in the in-ground pool – the monkeys may even attempt to join!

One aspect of Kwara Camp that makes it special is that curious fauna will sometimes approach and say Hello, Dolly, meaning we’ll be on safari even while lounging in leisure. Rest assured the staff are trained to keep us safe and the animals don’t typically come too close.

Five Hundred Twenty Five Thousand Six Hundred Creatures

The opus of the Okavango crescendos up with each excursion into the bush. Begin the day with an early morning game drive when temperatures are lower and the animals are most active. Among the magnificent creatures we may see are lions, hyenas, wildebeest, kudu, giraffes, elephants, zebras, gazelles, crocodiles, and a plethora of avian species.

For a better vantage point to glimpse splashing hippos and bathing elephants, muster up for a double-decker boat cruise through the serene waters of the delta. We wouldn’t say Anything Goes, but we would bring a camera – this is one of the best ways to grab a coveted close-up.

The most peaceful way to experience a close encounter with the fantastic fauna is via mokoro, a traditional African canoe. To meander through the verdant delta in one of these wooden boats is a remarkable, one-of-a-kind experience.

Those looking for a bountiful fishing spot are in luck! The Okavango and Kwando Rivers are renowned destinations for fly fishing and traditional spin fishing, and Kwara Camp provides all the necessary equipment upon request.

After sunset, we’ll shine a spotlight on rare, nocturnal animals with a nighttime game drive. We’ll likely witness prowling predators on the hunt for their next meal. It’s like seeing Cats for the first time – a little scary, a bit campy, the songs don’t make any sense, but you end up living for the melodrama of life and death.

The Music Of The Night

Evenings at Kwara Camp are about camaraderie. After a delectable group dinner, we’ll end on a high note by telling tales of the day’s encounters over a wide selection of libations as the campfire roars, reminiscent of a distant lioness.

As the night winds down, we’ll retire to the sounds of nature’s symphony under a canopy of endless stars. Sleep well, as tomorrow’s adventure begins bright and early.

As we bid adieu to the serenading hippos and wave ta-ta to the trumpeting elephants, a vibrant chorus of birdsong echoes through the trees, inviting us to return and visit again in due time. Such is 🎶 the circle… the circle of life. 🎶

Our Botswana: Okavango Delta Extension is best paired with our 10-day Namibia: Skeleton Coast Expedition, however it can be booked as a standalone tour. Contact us if you’re interested, or hit “Book Trip” on the tour page to reserve your spot; we’ll ensure hakuna matata – there are no troubles.
