From high class to high-speed, these trains keep our trips on track.
In the wide world of gay travel options, the spotlight frequently lands on cruises, resorts, and full-weekend events. But with the travel scene constantly evolving, an unexpected and unique experience has emerged – gay train trips!
Generally, trains are comfortable, with plenty of room to move around and a plethora of windows providing a scenic backdrop to the entire trip. Some even offer resort-like amenities. A plush bar and/or lounge is usually available on longer trips. There are high-speed trains, bullet trains, luxury trains, light rail trains, and old-timey locomotives.

Because our tours involve travel within the country we are visiting, trains have emerged as one of the most convenient ways to location-hop. Europe’s rail network is second to none, Japan is famous for its bullet trains, and panoramic-view locomotives are the preferred method for getting to and from Machu Picchu with ease.
Though we don’t offer any tours that take place entirely on the rails, many of our tours include a gay train trip in the itinerary. Read on to find out which ones!
Peru: Amazon Gay Cruise & Machu Picchu
No other tour offers such a diverse array of transportation modes as our Amazon Gay Cruise trip. We’ll fly across Peru via air, float leisurely through the jungle on our stylish river ship, and then have the pleasure of not one – but TWO – fabulous train rides up and down the Andes.
Peru Rail Vistadome Train

On Day 8 of the tour, we’ll board the charming Vistadome Train, which features panoramic glass panels in the ceiling to ensure you soak in as much of the view as possible. Departing from Ollantaytambo, we’ll venture through the Urubamba Valley towards the town of Aguas Calientes, the closest civilization to Machu Picchu.
Belmond Hiram Bingham Luxury Train
On Day 9 of the tour, we’re in for a treat on the Hiram Bingham Luxury Train! Passengers will be greeted by plush velvet seating and polished wooden accents, all designed to evoke a sense of old-world elegance. Large panoramic windows frame breathtaking views of the Peruvian landscape, allowing natural light to flood the lavish carriages.

The dining car features fine dining tables adorned with crisp linens and delicate tableware. During the trip, we’ll be privy to a gourmet onboard meal. Why not elevate the experience with a fine Peruvian wine?

The bar car, with its plush lounge chairs, invites guests to unwind with a selection of premium spirits and cocktails while enjoying the scenic journey from Machu Picchu to Cusco. What’s even better? Our group might temporarily transform this carriage into the world’s only gay bar on wheels!

The observation car, located at the end of the train, is the perfect spot to take in the gorgeous landscape while mingling with fellow passengers. This will likely be a popular spot for our group – it’s tough to resist a good caboose!

Each detail, from the intricate Peruvian textiles to the soft ambient lighting, creates an atmosphere of sophistication and comfort, making this journey as memorable as the destination itself.

The 360° Machu Picchu Train
On days 6 and 7 of our Amazon & Machu Picchu tour, and day 7 of our Inca Trail hike, we’ll board The 360° Machu Picchu Train for an enchanting ride through lush valleys between soaring Andean peaks.

As the train winds its way toward our destination, panoramic windows will ensure we don’t miss a thing! With plenty of room to stretch out, this trip is as comfortable as it is captivating.

Along the way, we’ll enjoy a lively onboard performance that includes traditional Peruvian costumes and engaging cultural dances. With plenty to see both inside and outside of the carriage, this journey is a theater of heritage and scenery.

The 360° Machu Picchu Train is a highlight of both our Amazon cultural tour and our Inca Trail hiking trip.
Japan: Osaka, Kyoto & Tokyo
Shinkansen Bullet Train
On day 6 of our Japanese cultural tour, we’ll board the famous Shinkansen bullet train from Kyoto to Hakone. Japan pioneered the creation of a dedicated high-speed railway network, originally designed to link remote regions to its capital, Tokyo. Not only are these trains sleek and futuristic in appearance, their top operating speed is just under 200mph (320km/h).

Inside the carriage, there’s comfy seating, overhead space for bags (though we’ll ship ours ahead for ease of navigation), and a speedometer so riders know when the train is at top speed. Watching as the countryside whizzes by at breakneck speed is a highlight of the tour and one of the most sought-after experiences for many train enthusiasts!

Are you excited to travel at bullet speed? Head over to our Japan: Osaka, Kyoto & Tokyo page for all the details!
Spain: Madrid, Sevilla & Barcelona
On day 3 of our Spanish extravaganza, we’ll take advantage of Spain’s robust rail network and enjoy a 2-hour high-speed train ride from Madrid to Córdoba. The convenience of rail travel within Spain, and Europe in general, makes it one of the easiest, cheapest, and safest ways to get around. Take in the countryside as it goes by, curl up with a good book, or grab some shuteye – the options are yours to choo-choo-choose!

Heading south from Madrid, we’ll see Toledo off to the right. The route then cuts through the Toledo Hills and, a little later, slices through the rugged Sierra Morena before heading on to Córdoba.

China: Highlights & Tibet
On day 4 of our brand new China tour, we’ll board a high-speed train from Beijing to Xi’an for a first-class ride through the picturesque countryside. Like the Japanese bullet train, this one moves fast!

The interior is modern and plush, and riders are welcome to stretch their legs by exploring different carriages.
