Itinerary
Day 0 – December 5th
Bienvenido a Buenos Aires, the flamboyant capital of Argentina! A renowned cosmopolitan hub of artistic and gastronomical expression, the city is home to a thriving cultural scene infused with a melange of Latin American vitality and European charm.
Please arrive to Buenos Aires no later than 2PM. If this is not possible, consider arriving on December 4th.
After weโve settled in from our (likely lengthy) flight, weโll meet in the hotel lobby at 7:15 PM. Tonight is our introduction to the dramatic flair, staccato movements, and fiery spirit of the Tango, Argentinaโs distinctive dance style that originated right here in Buenos Aires. From the hotel, weโll take a private transfer to El Viejo Almacรฉn for a delectable 3-course dinner paired with a tantalizing tango performance. The show finishes at midnight, at which point weโll return to the hotel.

Day 1 – December 6th
ยกBuenos dias! We begin at 10AM as our local LGBTQ+ guide leads us through the highlights, queer history, passions, quirks, and flavours of this world-class city. Weโll also delve into how gender expression, identity, and legislation were understood throughout Buenos Aires’ history.
![](https://outadventures.com/wp-content/smush-webp/2024/04/Argentina-Buenos-Aires-Plaza-de-Mayo-800px.jpeg.webp)
Our first stop is the momentous Plaza de Mayo, a political focal point named to commemorate the revolution that took place here in May of 1810 and led to the birth of modern-day Argentina.
![](https://outadventures.com/wp-content/smush-webp/2024/04/Argentina-Buenos-Aires-San-Telmo-800px.jpeg.webp)
Next, weโll explore bustling San Telmo Mercado and learn about the secret LGBTQ+ activism of the 1980s. Fair warning: learning about activism while surrounded by scrumptious delicacies may inspire snacktivism, so weโll head to an included lunch at La Brigada restaurant nearby.
![](https://outadventures.com/wp-content/smush-webp/2024/04/Argentina-6-Buenos-Aires-800px.jpeg.webp)
With our appetites satisfied, weโll continue onward to La Boca, the immigrant district transformed by a gay painter into a colorful display of neighborhood pride. Keep those cameras ready, because the kaleidoscope of colors that makes this neighborhood so unique also makes for a perfect photo backdrop.
![The National Congress of Buenos Aires, Argentina.](https://outadventures.com/wp-content/smush-webp/2024/04/Argentina-Buenos-Aires-National-Congress-800px.jpeg.webp)
From there, weโll forge onward to the National Congress, home to numerous wins by the LGBTIA+ community. Constructed between 1898 and 1906, the neoclassical-style palace is a National Historic Landmark and the current seat of the Argentine Congress.
![Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires, Argentina.](https://outadventures.com/wp-content/smush-webp/2024/04/Argentina-Buenos-Aires-Cemetary-800px.jpeg.webp)
Our next stop is the Recoleta Cemetery, where weโll visit the mausoleum of international icon Evita Perรณn, the former first lady who championed women’s suffrage and founded the nation’s first large-scale female political party. After her death at the age of 33, she rose to pop culture fame internationally as the subject of the musical โEvitaโ (1976). The popularity of the musical, combined with the 1996 film version starring Madonna, solidified Eva Perรณn as a pivotal figure in Argentinaโs history and development.
![A monument in Buenos Aires, Argentina's Retiro District](https://outadventures.com/wp-content/smush-webp/2024/04/Argentina-Buenos-Aires-Retiro-District-800px.jpeg.webp)
Weโll wrap up our day at the French districts of Retiro and Recoleta, known for chic cafรฉs, art galleries, and massive residences built by upper-class families near the turn of the century.
Afterwards, weโll return to our hotel around 5PM and have some time to freshen up before our 6PM Welcome Meeting with the full Out Adventures Antarctica group.
